E-Waste Collection Point | Gramin Mitra
Electronic waste or e-waste describes discarded electrical or electronic devices. Used electronics that are destined for refurbishment, reuse, resale, salvage recycling through material recovery, or disposal are also considered e-waste. Informal processing of e-waste in developing countries can lead to adverse human health effects and environmental pollution.
Electronic scrap components, such as CPUs, contain potentially harmful materials such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants. Recycling and disposal of e-waste may involve significant risk to the health of workers and their communities. As per the latest reports at present, there is no Recycling facility in the state of Jharkhand and each Division has a huge generation of E‐Waste. Considering all the factors there is a dire necessity to have a collection point in Jharkhand.
E-Waste Health Hazards
Role of Gramin Mitra Facilitation Center
Considering the above situation CSIR-CIMFR Gramin Mitra aims to set up an e-waste collection point at its facilitation center so that the people of Dhanbad can deposit e-waste there and later it will be collected by the authorized recycler. This will ensure the safe recycling of e-waste. Further CSIR-CIMFR Gramin Mitra plans to set up micro collection points across the city and all over Jharkhand state with the collaboration of recyclers.
